I used the metal workshop in the morning where I stuck to my choice of aluminium 0.5mm as I thought this would be the best balance between strength and malleability. Although in future copper is much easier to join through welding, whereas with aluminium I needed to drill through the metal and bind them with iron pins. Creating shapes in the metal was harder than I expected, but it made me think about how the metal not only interacted with the sounds, but the cubes and the industrial environment as well.

I photographed my piece in the sculpture yard because I thought that the outdoor element with the wet and organic and bricks related more to the destructive nature of the piece. However, the bricks did make some of the details harder to see, when speaking to Adrian, he suggested I bring it inside into one of these more white cube format rooms. I will try this on Tuesday as I think this could be really successful in this idea of controlling and examining destruction and traces. I do believe this piece was successful the range and diversity of destructive process makes each box unique and sets a format for a sculpture that could continue to grow and expand. What makes this work successful is this categorisation and imposed significance on the remnants, the plastic cube demands observation and consideration. Furthermore, I think the juxtaposition of the rigid linear cubes and the abstract metal representation of sound highlights the containing and ordering of destruction. This relates to a larger human desire to categorise and 'box' the abstract so it can be more easily conceived and communicated, this line of thought was something I explored throughout part 2 in 'The Sculptural Condition' and 'Inside/Outside'.
